You have created a great blog post ~ Now what?

How do you get people to read your Blog?

Creating your articles, or blog posts is the first step in the process of blogging.  One might argue that it is the most important step – without the article, there would be nothing to read!  However, if nobody sees your post who cares?  It is a lot of work to get the article written – now it is time to do some basic promotion.

Easy Blog Promotion

Those of you that know me to know that I am into easy.  Let’s use the tools we provide for other people for ourselves!  All blogs should have a social sharing option with each post.  There are many different widgets and plugins to accomplish social sharing.  A few of the popular ones are:

  • Sexy Bookmarks by Shareaholic (the one I use)
  • !Share
  • Sharebar
  • FollowMe
  • Share & Follow

Sexy Bookmarks from Shareaholic

Here is what the Sexy Bookmarks from Shareaholic look like on my site.  You will find this under every post and it is there for other people that come to my blog to easily share my useful content to their friends and followers through the social networks they use.   I use them to share my posts into my own networks to get the ball rolling.  After I publish a new post I go to the front end of my blog and make sure everything lays out as I want. Then I use these social sharing tools to get my blog link into the social networks I use – Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.  There is one tool I also use that is NOT in any of these social sharing tools yet – Scoop.it.

How does Scoop.it work?

Scoop.itScoop.it is a curation network – it helps people categorize information so others can find it and use it as well.  It allows you to create topic boards that can be used to help you become a resource in your industry.  It also connects with other social sites like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.  I seem to get more retweets on Twitter when I share via Scoop.it.  If this activity gets spread out then using both the social sharing tools on the blog AND Scoop.it are useful – just not all at the same time.
