Ever wonder how to use Twitter in your business?
I will be speaking and teaching this topic on Monday June 15th 2009 at the Round Table Pizza on the corner of Thurstan and Vancouver Mall Blvd. I will be at a Networking meeting that meets there every Monday at noon. The meeting is over at 1:00. If you have ever wondered how to use Twitter in your business effectively then come and learn about some tools and ideas that will make it work for you. Here is a Twitter story taken from an article called Conversational Marketing with Twitter by Kalena Jordan
In February 2009, Utah-based Mexican restaurant chain Costa Vida sent a one-day-only offer for a free burrito to its 80 Twitter followers. As part of the promotion, Costa Vida required customers to have an electronic coupon on their mobile phone.
The burrito was designed to test the effectiveness of leveraging social media websites like Twitter and FaceBook in brand building and driving restaurant traffic. However, Costa Vida customers tweeted about the promotion and forwarded the offer to friends via mobile phone. Their followers told their own followers and so on, until more than 2500 people inundated one of Costa Vida’s stores looking for their free burrito.
Want to learn how to do this for your business?
See you Monday
Dotty

Hi Dotty,
Thanks for mentioning my article, but I haven’t seen it published yet. Have you received your hard copy of Website Magazine already, or have you seen the article printed elsewhere?
thanks
Kalena
Where can we find out more about the “nuts-and-bolts” on how to do this? For example: How do you create an “electronic coupon on their mobile phone”?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Scott
I checked out your contest – you said you are testing the effectiveness of Social Media – there is no easy way to pass your contest on through social media from that site. You need a retweet button, or something like the Social Widget that WordPress has to make it easy for people to forward on.
Too late for your talk yesterday, but we’re a small wine shop, but we’re doing a lot on Facebook & Twitter – we just launched a promotion for someone to win a B&B Dream Vacation along the Blue Ridge Parkway yesterday to see how very small “mom & pops” can use social media to get the sort of results that the big guys like Queensland and Goode are doing. We’ll see if people are as competitive to get a vacation as they are to get a job. More info here: http://whyineedabreak.ning.com
Hey, Dotty.
Joe from twitter, and also from Vancouver. I’m interested to know if by “every Monday” you mean there are new seminars going on even next Monday. If so, I’m gonna come down and listen to one. Have you been to a Beer and Blog in Portland? I bet you could grab some time there. Most of them love twitter. You should totally host a town-hallish discussion on twitter for for-profit blogs.
Cheers!
Hi Kalena
I have had my hard copy for about a week now. If your article is somewhere on the Internet I will gladly link to it.
Hi Joe
Actually the group meets on Mondays – each meeting has a different speaker and topic. However we have decided to not meet again until September. If you are looking for a Networking, or Leads group here locally I know of several. Let me know and I can hook you up with one. I will need to look into the Beer and Blog – sounds very interesting.
